MY UKULELE AND ME
My ukulele and me
My parents wondered what to buy me
When they visited Hawaii
And then they met the biggest man within the state
But the man was very sad
Because the hammock that he had
Well, it simply wasn’t strong enough
To hold his weight
So my dad, he grabbed the rope with all his might
And then he tied it really tight around a tree
So with the hammock good as new
The giant knew just what to do
He gave my parents something special just for me
CHORUS
My ukulele and me
My ukulele and me
When I have a song
It is so fun to strum along
My ukulele and me
It has a very simple charm
A little longer than my arm
It reminds me of an instrument I played before
It’s like a small guitar
But simpler by far
Instead of six strings to play, there are only four
But when I play
I’m always perfectly at ease
It’s like I feel the ocean breeze upon my hair
It reminds me of Hawaii
With the ocean right beside me
Like I’m sitting on the beach without a care
My ukulele and me
My ukulele and me
When I have a song
It is so fun to sing along
My ukulele and me
U-K-U-L-E-L-E, ukuleles for you and me
He likes to play the ukulele
U-K-U-L-E-L-E, ukuleles for you and me
It reminds him of the islands
U-K-U-L-E-L-E, ukuleles for you and me
His parents got it from Hawaii
Now he plays it all the time
I can strum it all alone
Or in a hammock of my own
I can play along a hula song for B
And she does the hula daily
While I play my ukulele
As I sing about the colors of the sea
CHORUS

CLAP YOUR HANDS
Clap, clap, clap your hands
Come on
Clap, clap, clap your hands
Clapping my hands, imitating the beat
With the music turned on, I get off my seat
I hear the music and I stomp my feet
Clapping my hands, imitating the beat
Come on
Clap, clap, clap your hands
Come on
Clap, clap, clap your hands
Everybody
Clap, clap, clap your hands
All right, everybody
Three times now
Clap your hands
Come on (clap, clap, clap)
Clap, clap, clap your hands
And, one, two, three, and four
Imitating all the beats
That I heard before
Clapping my hands, as I stomp the floor
And I clap my hands, as I count to four
And one (clap)
Two (clap, clap)
Three (clap, clap, clap)
Gimme Four (clap, clap, clap, clap)
And I’m clapping my hands, imitating the beat
With the music turned on, I get off my seat
I hear the music and I stomp my feet
Clapping my hands, imitating the beat
Come on
Clap, clap, clap your hands
Come on
Clap, clap, clap your hands
Clapping my hands, imitating the beat
All right everybody
Come on now and clap your hands
Come on
Come on now and clap your hands…

HIGH AND LOW
CHORUS 1
Give me somethin’ high
Give me somethin’ low
Give me somethin’ high
Give me somethin’ low
I look up to the sky and see the clouds blow
Or lay upon the ground and feel the grass grow
I look up in the night to the stars, the stars
And think about Mercury and Venus and Mars
I wonder if they have no air, there
How ever could their music compare there
Would their voices be higher than high
Like they breathe in a helium Sky
Or maybe someday, I will know
That their voices are really low, low
CHORUS 1
One interesting thing to me
Is to hear the things that I see
Like the screeching of a happy bird
Is the highest pitch I’ve ever heard
Or when my puppy’s in a lousy mood
When I take away his bowl of food
I notice that his growl is low
Like there’s something he wants me to know, know
CHORUS 2
Give me somethin’ high
Give me somethin’ low
Give me somethin’ high
Give me somethin’ low
Repeat CHORUS 2
I look up in the night to the stars, the stars
And think about Mercury and Venus and Mars
I wonder if they have no air, there
How ever could their music compare there
Would their voices be higher than high
Like they breathe in a helium Sky
Or maybe someday, I will know
That their voices are really low, low
CHORUS 2, then CHORUS 1

SWINGING
I’m swingin’
I’m swingin’
Having fun swinging all day long
Yes, I’m swingin’
I’m swingin’
I’m just swinging as I’m singing my song
I’m swinging and-a-singing along
When I’m swinging back and forth as I play all day
I love to feel it with my eyes closed
Feeling funny in my tummy is my favorite way
To experience the highs and the lows
CHORUS
I’m swingin’
I’m swingin’
Having fun swinging all day long
Yes, I’m swingin’
I’m swingin’
I’m just swinging as I’m singing my song
I’m swinging and-a-singing along
When I’m swinging forward, I kick my legs out
And going back I pull them in
I swing through the bottom, then up to the top
And then swing back down again.
When I’m way up high, above the ground
There’s something thing I must confess
I love it when I’m right about to swing back down
It feels like I’m weightless
Swinging weightless
I like to swing all by myself, or swing beside a friend
It’s perfect on a sunny afternoon
Like swinging through the jungle
Or whatever I pretend
At night I swing under the moon
CHORUS

THE BIG RACE
Racing through the forest
Like a rocket blast
Is a speedy rabbit
By the name of Fast
He sounds just like
Drums on the ground
When he’s going full speed
He’s the fastest around
But there was a time that you all should know
When Fast raced a turtle by the name of Slow
CHORUS
Some of us walk fast
And some of us run slow
Just keep moving on, indeed
But at your own speed
Whether fast or slow, just go
Yes, it’s good to move fast
And it’s good to move slow
So there really is no need
To go any other speed
Whether fast or slow, just go
Now Slow was a turtle
Of the soft shell kind
He sounded like a cello
When he walked by
So that fateful day
When Slow raced Fast
Slow came out crawling
And everybody laughed
Right from the start, Fast was running on his toes
When he turned around he couldn’t even see Slow
So he stopped…with the end there in sight
And laid down to rest by a tree for the night
CHORUS
And slowly, but surely Slow went by
As he passed the sleeping rabbit he even waved “Hi”
And the next thing you know
The big race was done
Because he kept moving forward
The slow turtle won
Yes, it’s good to move fast
And it’s good to move slow
So there really is no need
To go any other speed
Whether fast or slow, just go

THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
There are many happy things
That are short and long
Like a one-verse poem
Or a five minute song
A pair of short sleeves
For a nap in the shade
With a long tall drink
Of my Aunt’s lemonade
CHORUS
Because the long and short of it
Has just begun
A long time for singing songs
And playing in the sun
I said the long and short of it
Has just begun
And life’s too short
To not have fun
A short stack of pancakes
My favorite way
A short list of chores
And a long time to play
A short bunch of chuckles
And a long hard laugh
After short easy days
I take a long hot bath
CHORUS
And if I ever have a day
That is longer than it seems
I like a short bedtime story
For a long night of dreams
It’s short and loooong…
It’s short and loooong…
CHORUS
Loooong and short!
Loooong and short! (to fade)

SUPADUPA
He wakes up with a song in his head
Then writes it down, still in bed
While other monkeys jump through hoops
He likes to write songs instead
CHORUS
He strum da-da-dum da-da-dums on his guitar
And knows this song is bizarre
But no matter the words he may say
He sings them for you anyway
And when he’s sing la-la-ling la-la-ling ling singing his song
He’s so happy when you sing along
His music and words are his art
And they come to you straight from his heart
When he’s sing la-la-ling la-la-ling ling singing his song
He’s so happy when you sing along
I saw him once on a corner street
And knew we had to meet
He was singing the song of Short and Long
As everyone tapped their feet
His guitar case was faded and worn
The knees of his pants were torn
But he hung a smile on his happy face
And told me where he was born
He said he’s from Supadupa Hadappy
Where they write happy songs until three
And if I wanted to go there with him
He gladly would go there with me.
CHORUS
You see, Supadupa Hadappy
Is not on anyone’s map
And has neither a Queen nor a King
A fantastical place
You find in yourself
When you sing a-ling ling, ling ling ling.
CHORUS
And when he’s sing la-la-ling, la-la-ling ling singing his song
He’s so happy when you sing along
Repeat and fade

LITTLE BUTTERFLY
Oh, little butterfly
My sweet butterfly
Oh, please don’t fly away
Tell me how can I get you to stay
My butterfly
When I met you I couldn’t catch you
No matter how fast I would run
You fly up and down, make me run around
I guess chasing you is half the fun
CHORUS
Oh, little butterfly
My sweet butterfly
Oh, please don’t fly away
Tell me how will I get you to stay
My little butterfly
In the Spring Time, spread your wing time
Away from me you flew
And with you gone I found a new one
With the same yellow markings as you
Oh, little butterfly
My sweet, sweet butterfly
Oh, why’d you fly away
I guess there, you’ll have to stay
Because a butterfly’s path is never straight there
They zig and they zag as they fly through the air
They land on a flower and don’t seem to care
As if sticking to one is just too much to bear
Maybe sometimes little butterflies are easily scared
Oh, please don’t fly away
Tell me how will I get you to stay
My sweet little butterfly
Little butterfly
Oh, my sweet little butterfly
Little butterfly
